Some might find it hard to imagine and surprised at how time flies, but audiences have been watching Kamal Haasan on the big screen for six decades now. The big milestone was celebrated in an event on par with the significance of the feat in Chennai on Sunday. Kamal Haasan was joined by many well-known names of the film industry including Rajinikanth, Ilayaraaja, AR Rahman and many other stars for a big gathering.
Titled Ungal Naan, the celebration of Kamal Haasan’s 60 years in Tamil cinema, was grand to the core. The 65-year-old entered the venue and brought the crowd on its feet. Like the recent event, where Rajinikanth and Kamal Haasan came together to unveil a bust of their mentor K Balachander, the superstars coming together in one frame was a highlight. The duo embraced each other, were seated together during the event and even came up on the stage to express their thoughts on the occasion.
Not just two acting superstars, two music superstars Ilayaraaja and AR Rahman were seen in one frame, in a delight for the fans. Kamal Haasan performed with the two artistes, on some of their popular tracks for him. Ilayaraaja was also seen holding the microphone when Kamal Haasan was singing.

Pictures of Vijay Sethupathi, Karthi and more went immediately went viral.
Kamal Haasan’s daughter Shruti Haasan too enthralled the crowd with a energetic performance.
Veteran directors Mani Ratnam and Ramesh Sippy were a part of the audiences. Manisha Koirala, Shankar, Pa Ranjith, Nasser and several other stars were also present at the event.
Proceeds
Rs 1 crore from the proceeds of the event was donated to a skill development center at Kamal Haasan’s hometown Paramakudi. The party’s Twitter handle announced, “Makkal Needhi Maiam Mr.@ikamalhaasan donated Rs. 1 crore from the part of money collected in #UngalNaan to the Maiam skill development center at Paramakudi. Mr. @rajinikanth and Ilayaraja was presented on the stage during this donation.”
On the professional front, Kamal Haasan is currently shooting for Indian 2. On the veteran’s 65 th birthday, the makers had shared a new still from the movie.
