US President Donald Trump on Thursday, September 10 anunced that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be flying to Qatar to attend intra-Afghan peace talks between Taliban and Afghanistan government. long-anticipated talks between two parties are scheduled for September 12 and will take place in Qatar, where Taliban have ir political office.

'Historic opportunity': Pompeo
During a press conference at White House, Donald Trump said, "I can anunce, with great pride, that Secretary of State Mike Pompeo will be departing this evening on a historic trip to Doha, Qatar, for beginning of intra-Afghan peace negotiations”. Trump furr ded that number of US troops in Afghanistan would soon be brought down to only 4,000 as agreed upon in a deal between Washington and Taliban back in February.
intra-Afghanistan Peace talks are being considered a diplomatic breakthrough that could potentially stabilise war-torn country after nearly four deces of conflict. Mike Pompeo, in a statement, said peace talks were a historic opportunity to end conflict in country as people of Afghanistan have ‘carried burden of war for too long’.

Despite negotiations being back on track, peace in Afghanistan is going to be a long drawn process as two sides discuss right of women and mirities. As per reports, Taliban has stated that it will allow women to go to school, work and even participate in politics but y would t accept a female president or a female chief justice even though y are willing to allow female judges.
