US: Trump lauds military strike on Iran, Congress passes War Powers Resolution

While the house approved the War Powers Resolution, Trump was at his campaign rally in Toledo, Ohio and claimed that he had no obligation to brief lawmakers.

While house approved War Powers Resolution on January 9, US President Donald Trump was at his campaign rally in Toledo, Ohio and claimed that he h obligation to give lawmakers vance warning. US President furr ded that Democrats like Pelosi 'want us to tell m so y can leak it to ir friends in corrupt media'. Before arriving in Toledo, Trump h tweeted that he 'hopes' house would t support 'Crazy Nancy Pelosi’s War Powers Resolution'. However, only three Republican's voted in support of measure, while eight Democrats opposed same.

House vote came a day after Trump ministration briefed lawmakers on its actions in Iran. However, reportedly, democrats and several Republicans called briefing inequate, ding that officials failed to provide furr details about why attack was justified. While Trump h earlier said that Soleimani h 'me death of incent his sick passion', US Vice President Mike Pence said on January 9 that Soleimani 'was travelling region making plans to bring an attack against American personnel and American forces'. Pence furr ded that it was t possible to share full details of intelligence with lawmakers. 

Pelosi t only called Trump ministration's air raid in Iran 'provocative' but also called out White House on its 'lack of strategy'. However, Trump, on or hand, bosted about his 'successful' strike and said that he 'h calls from numerous senators and numerous congressmen and women saying it was greatest presentation y’ve ever h '.

House approves resolution

US House of Representatives approved a resolution asserting that US President Donald Trump must seek approval from Congress before engaging in furr military action against Iran. This move by Democratic-led house came in wake of Trump-directed airstrike which killed Iran's top commander Qassem Soleimani on January 3 along with or military personnel. US House Speaker Nancy Pelosi called it a 'provocative and disproportionate' move and also stressed that it was without approval of Congress.

war powers resolution is t binding to Trump and would t require his signature. However, Pelosi insisted that it 'has real teeth' because resolution is 'a statement of Congress of United States'. According to US House speaker, this measure 'will protect American lives and values' by limiting actions of US President. Since Soleimani's killing, Iran fired multiple missiles targetting Iraqi military bases housing US troops. But, Pelosi reportedly said that ' ministration must de-escalate and must prevent furr violence'.
