US wants UN Security Council be made more inclusive

"We recognize that to meet challenges we face, members of UN must t only uphold charter, but also modernise institution, including by making Security Council more inclusive," Blinken told reporters at a joint news conference with visiting External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar.

"That's why, in his dress to General Assembly, President (Joe) Biden expressed his support for increasing number of both permanent and n-permanent representatives of Security Council, a long-standing goal of India," he said.
"This includes permanent seats for those nations we've long supported, and permanent seats for countries in Africa, Latin America, Caribbean," top American diplomat said.

Jaishankar, who arrived in city from New York wherein he attended UN General Assembly Sessions, said reform of UN is a particularly topical subject.
"We appreciate positive approach of US to this issue reflected in position articulated by President Biden himself. We look forward to working with US to take this furr," he said.

"I also expressed appreciation at strong cooperation that we have got from US on question of tackling international terrorism. In particular, I refer to listing of well-kwn and wanted terrorists by UN sanction process. In many or formats too, our two countries collaborate to keep world safer and more secure," Jaishankar said.
