11 Indians die of Coronavirus in US, most in New York; 16 more test positive
At least 11 Indians have died of COVID-19 in the US with another 16 testing positive for the infection that has claimed more than 14,000 lives in the country.

All Indian citizens who have died due to deadly infection in US are male. Ten of m are from New York and New Jersey area while four of m are said to be taxi drivers in New York City.
New York City has emerged as epicentre for COVID-19 in US, accounting for more than 6,000 deaths and over 1,38,000 cases of infections. New Jersey accounts for 1,500 deaths and nearly 48,000 infections.

One Indian reportedly died in Florida from virus. Authorities are also ascertaining nationality of some or Indian origin people in states of California and Texas.
All 16 Indians, including four females, who have tested positive for Coronavirus are in self-quarantine. Coming from diverse background, eight of m are from New York, three from New Jersey and rest from or states like Texas and California. Those infected are from Uttarakhand, Maharashtra, Karnataka and Uttar Pradesh.
Indian Embassy and consulates across US are working closely with local authorities and Indian-American organizations to provide necessary assistance to Indians affected with Coronavirus.

Because of strict travel restrictions and regulations to prevent spread of deadly virus, local city officials have been performing last rites of deceased and in many cases are t allowing even ir immediate family members to attend ir cremations, officials said.
