Afghan Peace Deal: 5,000 Taliban PoWs to be released; US to withdraw in 14 months

As United States and Taliban are set to sign historic peace agreement, Afghanistan is likely to release 5,000 prisoners of armed group as per deal. peace deal is likely to foresee a full withdrawal of US troops from Afghanistan within 14 months, a joint agreement between Afghan government and US said.

" United States will reduce number of US military forces in Afghanistan to 8,600 and implement or commitments in US-Taliban agreement within 135 days of anuncement of this joint declaration and US-Taliban agreement and will work with its allies and Coalition to reduce proportionally number of Coalition forces in Afghanistan over an equivalent period, subject to Taliban’s fulfillment of its commitments under US-Taliban agreement," joint Afghan-US declaration re.
Sher Mohamm Abbas Stanikzai, a member of Taliban's office in Qatar, called peace deal a 'historic day for Afghanistan' and told Afghanistan's TOLO News, " US guaranteed that 5,000 prisoners would be released before intra-Afghan talks."

Afghan President Ashraf Ghani speaking about peace deal said that all contents in agreement are 'conditions-based'. He ded saying that withdrawal of foreign forces from region will depend on Taliban's fulfillment of ir commitments.
He said, "On behalf of people of Afghanistan, I thank NATO organisation and United States of America for ir financial and military support." "Our sacrifice has been immense, both in martyrdom of ANDSF and our civilians. Children, youth in ir prime, and men and women of all s and walks of life h ir lives taken away by senseless acts of terror and violence in public s."
Earlier on Saturday, Taliban ordered its fighters to refrain from any attacks, as Kabul is set to sign an agreement to ensure peace in Afghanistan. According to media reports, Taliban spokesperson Zabiullah Mujahid hoped that US remains committed to ir promises me in peace deal. statement came after reports of continued insurgent attacks during partial truce between Taliban, American, and Afghan forces. While Afghanistan still witnessed attacks from Taliban, numbers and intensity fell dramatically after ‘reduction in violence’ pact signed last week.
