Anti-Kavanaugh Protests Continue Despite Confirmation

The protests over Judge Brett Kavanaugh's elevation to the US Supreme Court continued even after his confirmation on Saturday, October 6 for the post of Associate Justice in the apex court

protests over Judge Brett Kavanaugh's elevation to US Supreme Court continued even after his confirmation on Saturday, October 6 for post of Associate Justice in apex court. Protestors congregated at Capitol Hill in opposition to his appointment and banged doors of  Supreme Court when Kavanaugh reached for his swearing-in, CNN reported.

A group of protestors gared near  Supreme Court at around 5:45 PM (local time) chanted "Hey hey, ho ho, Kavanaugh has got to go."

y also raised slogans like, " justice, peace," and expressed ir solidarity with alleged sexual assault victims by chanting "We believe Anita Hill," a woman who h earlier leveled similar allegations against Justice Clarence Thomas.

One demonstrator displayed a sign with "Predator Club" written alongside pictures of Kavanaugh, Thomas, and President Donald Trump. Taking to his Twitter account, Trump refuted "fake news" reports that re were huge crowds of protestors gared outside Supreme Court, saying that crowd seemed to be barely 200 strong.

 Capitol Police h earlier confirmed that 14 people were arrested during protests in Senate Gallery, while ar 13 were arrested during vote to confirm Kanavaugh, with ar person arrested a while ago.

In gallery, protestors were chanting, "I will t consent," with raised fists, leing to Vice President Mike Pence having to ask sergeant-at-arms to "restore order in gallery" repeatedly.

Around 150 protestors assembled at  Rotunda Steps on East Front of US Capitol were arrested,  Capitol Police ded. Protestors who were arrested on Saturday were charged with breach of  Washington code against crowding, obstructing or incommoding. Over 300 have been arrested in anti-Kavanaugh protests throughout this week in Washington D. C.
