Arkansas health officials on Sunday reported one less death due to COVID-19, the illness caused by the coronavirus.
The state Department of Health said one previously reported death was determined to be a false positive and has been removed from the total count and with no additional deaths, the number stands at 599.

The department reported 52,665 confirmed cases, an increase of 673 from Saturday. The true number of cases in Arkansas is likely higher because many people have not been tested, and studies suggest people can be infected and not feel sick.
There are 6,494 active cases of the virus, according to the health department, and 45,575 people have recovered while 478 people are hospitalized.

For most people, the new coronavirus causes mild or moderate symptoms, such as fever and cough that clear up in two to three weeks. For some, especially older adults and people with existing health problems, it can cause more severe illness, including pneumonia, and death. The vast majority of people recover.
