Biden may be hard on China too; Trump may run again in 2024: Chinese economist
A leading economist has said that the incoming Joe Biden administration might further impose sanctions on China, that could adversely affect its economy in 2021

Even as tensions between United States and China continue to worsen under current ministration of outgoing President Donald Trump over a score of issues, a leing ecomist has said that incoming Joe Biden ministration might furr impose sanctions on Beijing, that could versely affect its ecomy next year.
As per reports, David Li Daokui, a professor at Tsinghua University and a former viser to China's central bank, has warned that ecomic planners should consider possibility of a Trump comeback in 2024 and ded that President-elect Biden might continue his predecessor's "hard-line approach" towards China.

"If you ask me what are risks facing Chinese ecomy next year... Number one, will Biden introduce restrictive policies that are precisely targeted at certain Chinese industries? That remains a question mark," he said at China Macroecomy Forum.
He ded, "Next year, China's foreign policy, certain industries and certain companies are likely to face some risks."
'Trump is still very healthy'
ecomist claimed it would be much easier to communicate with Biden's team than Trump's ministration, with whom it has locked horns ever since outbreak of pandemic. However, he also warned that China should be prepared for Trump's possible return in 2024. "It is very likely [that Trump will run again], he is still very healthy," Li said.

A Chinese government visor h also stated that China must 'drop illusion' that its relations with US will improve automatically under Biden's ministration and asked Beijing to be prepared for a 'tough stance' from Washington.

Zheng Yongnian, Dean of vanced Institute of Global and Contemporary China Studies, vised that Chinese government should utilise every opportunity to mend ties with US.
" good old days are over... cold war hawks in US have been in a highly mobilised state for several years, and y will t disappear overnight," Zheng said in a recent interview.

During elections, Biden h pledged that he would force China "to play by international rules" regarding tre, treatment of foreign companies, and its actions in South China Sea.
"We need to be having rest of our friends with us saying to China: se are rules. You play by m or you're going to pay price for t playing by m, ecomically," said Biden during a Presidential debate.
