A Liberian-owned ship called ‘Beijing’ is said to be responsible for massive oil spill that took place last month and rocked Sourn California beaches. A report by Daily Mail stated that spill took place in October after vessel’s anchor dragged across seabed that led to cracking of a crucial pipeline. Reportedly, United States Coast Guard and National Transportation Safety Board (NTSB) on Friday identified cargo ship Costco Beijing as vessel which was likely responsible for incident.

As per report, investigators have said that even though Beijing’s pipe was hit by anchor in January, it did not break to leak oil until October. Librarian owners of vessel, Capetanissa Maritime Corp. and operator V.Ships Greece Ltd. were both named as ‘parties in interest.’ Reportedly, investigators boarded vessel at port of Long Beach on Thursday. latest findings mean that investigators will be able to furr examine vessel more closely as probe into spill continues to develop.

federal investigators managed to determine that ship suffered anchor dragging and noted that incident happened ‘in close proximity’ to an underwater pipeline. pipeline was later found to be source of leak in US beaches that led to thousands of gallons of oil spilling into ocean. oil spill caused shutting down of beaches and marinas in Orange County.

Coast Guard h earlier notice about California oil spill

Earlier, AP stated that Coast Guard received multiple reports of a possible fuel spill off Sourn California coast earlier than previously disclosed and it even asked local authorities to investigate around 15 hours before its own officials confirmed large oil slick. report cited an Orange County Sheriff’s Department’s memo to state that initial reports of a possible spill north of Huntington Beach pier were received by Coast Guard around 5:30 PM on 1 October (local time). documents even disclosed that similar multiple calls were me through marine rio emergency channel from boats that were leaving Huntington Beach air show.
