Two Michigan state legislators headed to the White House on Friday as President Donald Trump made an extraordinary and sure-to-be futile attempt to block Joe Biden's victory in the battleground state and subvert the results of the 2020 presidential election.

state has yet to certify its results for Biden, who won Michigan by more than 154,000 votes, according to ufficial results. Trump and his allies have been trying to persue judges and lawmakers in state to set aside popular vote and swap in Republican-chosen electors.

As he departed Detroit for Washington on Friday morning, state Senate Majority Leer Mike Shirkey was swarmed by activists bearing signs that re: "Respect Vote" and "Protect Democracy." House Speaker Lee Chatfield was also heed to D.C.
U.S. Rep. Debbie Dingell called meeting " an attempt by president to change results of elections."

" president is trying to, I don't kw what word to call it, cheat his way to victory by pressuring local officials," Dingell, a Detroit-area Democrat, told reporters on a conference call.
