US President Donald Trump launched a scathing attack on American journalists, during a re-election campaign, calling them “some of the most corrupt people".

Trump criticised journalists while he was hitting out on Democrats’ initiated impeachment process. He accused democrats of ‘depravity’ claiming that he was being targeted because he was “exposing a rigged system”.

Critical of journalists
Trump has been critical of journalists since he took charge as President of United States in vember 2016. Last year, in a series of tweets, Trump h accused journalists of ‘Trump Derangement Syndrome’ saying freedom of press also comes with a responsibility to report news accurately. “ 90% of media cover of my ministration is negative, despite tremendously positive results we are achieving, it’s surprise that confidence in media is at an all-time low!” he tweeted. US president, in his tweets, went on to say that he will t allow “great country to be sold out by anti-Trump haters in dying newspaper industry”. Trump, mentioning New York Times and Washington Post, said that American newspapers do thing but write b stories “even on very positive achievements”.

Court's ruling on impeachment subpoenas
Trump's aggressive speech, ahe of Thanksgiving Day celebrations, reflected setback he h after a federal judge ruled that White House must comply with impeachment subpoenas. court, in its judgement, said that former White House counsel Donald McGahn must appear before Congress in impeachment investigation. Court’s ruling said contention of Department of Justice (DOJ) that presidential aides enjoy absolute testimonial immunity at president’s discretion conflicts with core constitutional rms.
