US President Donald Trump, on October 4, claimed that the Evangelical Christian churches are seeing a revival and joining hands because of media and Democrats. “I got a call the other night from pastors, the biggest pastors, Evangelical Christians. They said that they have never seen our religion or any religion so electrified,” Trump said during a press conference outside the White House. “I got a call the other night from pastors, the biggest pastors, Evangelical Christians. They said that they have never seen our religion or any religion so electrified,” he added.

Support of Evangelical Christians
Several theories of Evangelical Christians supporting Donald Trump have been floated till date. Recently, Franklin Graham, Christian evangelist and a missionary, addressed thousands of Christians on his tour but never mentioned the word “impeachment” while calling for support for Donald Trump.
Earlier in an interview, Graham had warned not to move ahead with impeachment and said, “It’s going to destroy this country if we let this continue”.

Polarization over impeachment
Supporters at the gathering were concerned about the political polarization of the country. Before Graham took the stage to speak to them, Christina Jones, 44, openly called for supporting Trump.

“I do feel like we are, as Christians, the first line of defence for the president,” said Jones.
She said that the US President is supporting their Christian principles and trying to do his best. Trump has clearly said that the impeachment process will make his ties with his voting bloc even stronger than it was earlier.

Twitter not impressed
But the comment of the US President didn’t go down well with many and they made it clear on Twitter. American author Edward Stetzer tweeted, “Fact check (from someone who has led more than a few research projects on evangelicalism): this is demonstrably and unquestionably false”. Another American author and journalist David French wrote, “This is a remarkable clip -- remarkably ridiculous. (And of course, it would only be the "biggest pastors" who called him.)”
