Donald Trump claims 'no need for nationwide lockdown' despite steep rise in cases

US President Donald Trump claims that there is no need for a nationwide lockdown to fight the coronavirus like what is implemented in New York and California.

New York recently anunced on March 20 that it will be locking down in an effort to contain spre of coronavirus pandemic. President Trump has declared that United States was winning war against coronavirus even though US has seen an alarming rise in confirmed cases and deaths. Goverr Andrew Cuomo’s decision comes just a day after his counterpart Gavin Newsom told California's 40 million residents to stay at home.

Two hotbeds of virus in lockdown

According to reports, Cuomo told reporters that all of New York was in quarantine w and that re would be civil fines and mandatory closures for anyone that violated order. lockdown takes effect from March 22, in evening. call for a lockdown of New York came after total deaths linked to coronavirus in United States crossed 200 marks. Presently United States has 19,772 confirmed coronavirus cases.

According to reports, Trump has said that New York and California were two hotbeds of virus and that re was reason to implement a nation-wide lockdown like it has been implemented in California and New York. Trump also said that United States was ‘winning’ and that y were ‘going to win this war’.

As per reports, only essential business in New York is to remain open. essential business includes grocery stores, pharmacies and food delivery. Goverr Cuomo also ded that that under ‘Matilda’s Law’ which is named after his mor, all n-essential garings of any size are cancelled.

China is most affected country in world as experts believe that virus originated from a seafood market in Wuhan city, epicentre of disease, where animals were reportedly being tred illegally.
