Donald Trump lambasts 'incompetent' Biden for escalating tensions between China and Taiwan

During his address at a GOP event in South Carolina, US President Donald Trump on Saturday blamed POTUS Joe Biden for "aggravating" the situation between China and Taiwan. The event came just days after the former president was indicted in the 2020 election interference case. With this, Trump created history by being indicted in three monumental cases. 

The former US President claimed that Chinese President Xi Jinping “lost respect” for the US after Joe Biden was elected. Trump stated that China would not be going into Taiwan if he was the president. “President Xi is awfully close to wanting to go because he thinks your leader is incompetent," he said. The former reality TV star bashed both Joe Biden and called him “the most incompetent and corrupt president” of the United States. 

Tensions started escalating between China and Taiwan after the former Speaker of the House, Nancy Pelosi, visited the island region in 2022. Since then, China has intruded on Taiwanese territory multiple times while Taipei conducted joint military exercises with the US in retaliation. While Washington adheres to Beijing’s “One China Policy”, the US has maintained diplomatic ties with Taiwan, making the Xi Jinping administration extremely concerned.  

Trump calls Biden a 'crooked guy'

Trump went on to proclaim that Russia would have never tried to invade Ukraine if he was in office. “With me in the office, Russia would have never invaded Ukraine and China would not be even thinking about going into Taiwan. I would talk to President Xi and I would talk to President Putin, zero chance, they knew you cannot do that,” he said. Trump exclaimed that Biden is “worse than five worst US Presidents combined”. “If you took the five worse presidents in the history of the United States and added them up, they would not have done destruction to our country as crooked Joe Biden and the Biden administration have done, he is a crooked guy,” he stated. 

The former US President concluded his speech by calling the 2024 elections -- the “Final battle”. He pledged to “drain the swamp once and for all” to make America great again.
