Donald Trump moves to Florida, says New York 'treated him badly'

The President of the United States, Donald Trump announced on October 31 that he is changing his permanent residence from New York to Palm Beach, Florida saying that 'he is treated very badly'. Donald Trump further said that he cherishes New York, however, he has faced challenges with the political leaders of both the city as well as the state. The US President and the First Lady had reportedly filed individual declarations of domicile in September to change their primary residence from Manhattan to Palm Beach.

The Palm Beach Residence

President Trump is the owner of Mar-a-Lago estate in Palm Beach since 1985 where he reportedly has spent more time during presidency than his penthouse apartment on Fifth Avenue in New York. Donald Trump stayed at his resort for 99 days while only 20 days at his apartment in Trump Tower. A native from New York, President Trump was raised in Queens and later moved to Manhattan but now officially will not be a 'New Yorker' anymore.

Evading tax?

According to some reports, the US President is changing residence to Florida mainly due to tax purposes. The 56th governor of New York, Andrew Cuomo, replied to Donald Trump's announcement saying it is a 'good riddance' and that the US leader did not pay taxes in the city. Mayor of New York, Bill de Blasio also said he offers deepest condolences to the people of Florida as the President is trying to 'outrun his past along with his future'. De Blasio also told the US leader to not 'let the Door hit you' while moving out of New York.
