While death toll due to coronavirus outbreak in US has surpassed 152,000 and total infections are nearing five million, US President Donald Trump has said that “blanket shutdown” is “t a viable long-term strategy” to contain COVID-19 pandemic. As contagion is tightening its grip in country, Trump has opposed shutting down of ecomy to achieve a “temporary reduction” in COVID-19 cases because according to him that has alrey been done in beginning. 

At press briefing on July 30, Donald Trump proposed “path forward” scientifically would be to protect more vulnerable individuals in society while also paving way for ones with lower risk to grually return to work and to school with suitable precautions. w, with months into coronavirus contagion, Trump has reiterated that ‘permanent shutdown’ would longer be answer. main purpose of a nationwide shutdown, according to US President is to flatten curve of vel coronavirus and development of treatments and rapies. This, Trump said has been achieved by US government.

“ primary purpose of a shutdown was to flatten curve, ensure sufficient hospital capacity, and develop effective treatments and rapies to reduce mortality. And we’ve done that,” he ded.
