As Donald Trump engages over international issues at UN General Assembly with the world leaders, back home in Washington, the US President faces the threat of losing office, with the House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's announcement to launch an impeachment inquiry. In retaliation, Donald Trump cried foul saying that no other American President has been treated "so badly" in comparison to him and reiterated his 'witch-hunt' claim.
Playing the victim card, Donald Trump's response came soon in the face of possible impeachment. In his tweet, Trump asserted that no other President 'in history of America' has been subjected to such treatment and stated that the Democrats are 'frozen with hatred and fear.'
Following his claim, 'Lincoln and Kennedy' came up on the Twitter trending charts. Former US President Abraham Lincoln who victorious persecuted the Civil War and John F. Kennedy who guided the United States through the Cuban missile crisis were both assassinated while in office.
Impeachment process
Nancy Pelosi on Tuesday announced that the House led by Democrats was forwarding an official impeachment inquiry and directed six committees to proceed with the probe of Donald Trump. "The president must be held accountable. No one is above the law," said Pelosi. After the six committees probing Donald Trump deduce reasons for impeachment, the House Judiciary Committee would draft articles for impeachment.
Ukraine phone-call transcript
Democrats accused Donald Trump of seeking Ukraine's help to smear Democrat Joe Biden's campaign. Trump is seeking re-election in the US 2020 Presidential elections.
According to a transcript released by White House, Trump speaking to his Ukranian counterpart Zelenskyy asked, "There's a lot of talk about Biden's son, that Biden stopped the prosecution and a lot of people want to find out about that so whatever you can do with the Attorney General would be great. Biden went around bragging that he stopped the prosecution so if you can look into it..It sounds horrible to me."
