George W. Bush 'appalled' by pro-Trump 'insurrection' at US Capitol; expresses concern

Reacting to unprecedented attack on democracy where thousands of angry supporters of US President Donald Trump stormed US Capitol and clashed with police, former Republican President George Bush, in a rare statement, excoriated those who incited and were involved in pro-Trump "insurrection" on Wednesday. George Bush said that he is appalled by reckless behaviour of some political leaders since election.

George Bush said, "This is how election results are disputed in a banana republic- t our democratic republic. I am appalled by reckless behaviour of some political leaders since election and by lack of respect shown for our nations, our traditions and our law enforcement."

George Bush speaks on US Capitol Seige 

Stating that violent assault on Capitol- and disruption of a constitutionally mandated meeting of Congress was undertaken by people whose passions have been inflamed by falsehoods and false hopes, former US President warned that siege could do "grave dam" to country and its reputation.

He said, "In United States of America, it is fundamental responsibility of every patriotic citizen to support rule of law. To those who are disappointed in results of election. Our country is more important than politics of moment. Let officials elected by people fulfil ir duties and represent our voices in peace and safety."
