Trump ministration, in one of its closing acts, finalised two new rules easing energy standards on consumers fixtures and appliances. According to NBC News, US Energy Department on December 15 anunced new shower rules, including one on showerhes after President Donald Trump complained some showers don’t equately rinse his hair. new rule will w allow for each shower he in a fixture to reach two-and-a-half gallon-per-minute maximum water flow rate mandated by Congress.
new rules are latest move in line with Trump’s yearlong cruse against what he calls as insufficient water pressure in household appliances and bathroom fixtures. y are also his last-minute efforts to roll back rules that limit production of consumption of oil, gas and coal as part of his “energy dominance” policy. Along with shower he rule, Energy Department also anunced a rule to exempt some clos washers and dryers from standards allowing m to use more energy and water.

Environmentalists call new rules ‘silly’
Meanwhile, some environmental vocates, consumer groups and manufacturers criticised rule change. y believe that new rules are unnecessary and potentially harmful to environment. Andrew deLaski, executive director of Appliance Standards Awareness Project, in a statement published on website, said that new rules are “simply silly”.
Andrew said, “Changing rules to dress one of President Trump’s pet peeves is simply silly. Thousands of showerhe models on market today meet standards that Congress set way back in 1992 and provide a great shower”.
Joanna Mauer, a senior research manr at Appliance Standards Awareness Project, also ded, “ new laundry rule will allow certain clos washers and dryers to use unlimited amounts of energy and water and will open door to very wasteful products”.
