Ivanka Trump helps at drive-thru food distribution

Presidential daughter Ivanka Trump helped load boxes of food into the cars of drivers who showed up at a South Florida drive-through food distribution event for those in need.

"Happy Holidays," Trump said Tuesday as she hauled a black box into a car's trunk in the parking lot of King Jesus Ministry in Miami-Dade County.

"We are feeding a thousand households, we wanted to really be a blessing during the holidays. We know there are so many people suffering because of COVID and unemployment and other things," Cassandra Sheppard, Food Pantry Director said.

One driver in the line, Karla Fuentes, told a Miami television station that she had gotten to the church more than 12 hours earlier to get in line for the food and slept in her car.

Another food recipient, Vivian Lopez, said she had lost her job because of the pandemic.

"We have over 3,000 employees now. I started out with one employee selling on the back of a pickup truck. So, I know what it's like to be on hard times. And this is an opportunity for us to get back and work. We feel very blessed to do it," Alfie Oakes, Owner of Oakes Farms Seed to Table Market said.

The food giveaway isn't too far from where Trump and her husband, Jared Kushner, recently bought property on Indian Creek Island near Miami, an area referred to as "Billionaires Bunker," according to news reports.
