US President-elect Joe Biden's ministration is likely to be as tough as Trump's on several China-related issues such as South China Sea, claim media reports.

Earlier in year while campaigning for US Presidential elections Biden h blasted Beijing for its actions in Hong Kong and termed its policies towards Muslim mirities in Xinjiang region as 'unconscionable'. Biden h also called  Chinese president a 'thug'.

"This is a guy who does t have a democratic - with a small 'd' - bone in his body," Biden said during February 25 Democratic Party primary debate with Bernie Sanders. "This is a guy who is a thug and who in fact has a million Uygurs in reconstruction camps, meaning concentration camps."

Over same debate, Biden revealed that he once told Xi that US would defy China's -fly zone in South China Sea and that US has flown B-1 bombers through it. He furr ded, "We're gonna make it clear, y must play by rules..."

On Monday, vember 9 while dressing a virtual forum Professor Jay Batongbacal, director of University of Philippines Institute for Maritime Affairs and Law of Sea said that "given Biden's background (as a veteran lawmaker), we will see more hes brought to bear on problems worldwide". online forum was organised by Foreign Correspondents' Association of Philippines.

China refrains from congratulating Biden

Meanwhile, China has refrained from congratulating Biden on his victory in high staked presidential election, claiming results of poll will be confirmed according to US laws and procedures. When Biden was anunced as winner of 2020 elections, Chinese foreign ministry spokesman in its first response on Monday said: "We have ticed that Biden anunced being successfully elected, and, as we understand, result of presidential election will be determined in accordance with US legislation and established procedures." Chinese President Xi Jinping in 2016 h congratulated Donald Trump soon after Republican candidate won election, according to reports.
