Kamala Harris: 'Can't trust Trump' on COVID vaccine, health experts would be 'suppressed'

US democratic vice president minee Kamala Harris on September 5 reportedly said that President Donald Trump h a track record of suppressing expert opinion about coronavirus pandemic and w she is worried that it might happen again in case of a prospective vaccine. In an interview with CNN, Harris said that she doesn’t trust Trump. She said that she ‘will t take his word’ and ded that she would be convinced of efficacy of a vaccine if someone ‘credible’ were vouching for vaccine as well.
United States is one of worst-hit countries and government is struggling to handle outbreak. Trump, however, has repeatedly downplayed pandemic and even dangled possibility that a vaccine might be rey ahe of vember 3 US presidential election. Meanwhile, health experts are sceptical that vaccine trials, which have to study potential side effects on a wide range of people before y can deliver a verdict, can be complete by late this year or even early next year.

FDA willing to allow use of vaccine before trials
Soon after Harris’ statement, White House reportedly said that her suggestion that politics is influencing vaccine approvals ‘is t only false but is a danger to American public’. White House officials have repeatedly pushed back concerns on safety of COVID-19 vaccines. World Health Organisation has shown apprehension after US said that a vaccine for coronavirus might be approved without even completing full trials. However, White House said that US will continue to eng international partners to ensure that y defeat virus.
