Kenya political analyst warns about US election

A leading Kenyan political scientist warned Wednesday that Donald Trump's posture during the US presidential elections will "give dictatorship a new lease of life" in the African continent.

Peter Kagwanja, a policy expert on governance, security and African affairs, added that democratic aspirations in the continent could be squashed by the US President's "belligerence".

Trump, in an extraordinary move from the White House, issued premature claims of victory and said he would take the election to the Supreme Court to stop the counting.

It was unclear exactly what legal action he could try to pursue.
