English actress, singer and author Julie Andrews who played the character of most famous fictional nanny of all times, 'Mary Poppins' has said that US President Donald Trump surely would have straightened up if he had a governess like her. The 84-year-old actress made the statement at the presentation of the latest instalment of her memoirs in London on November 2. Andrews played Poppins back in 1964 musical comedy 'Mary Poppins' and has ever since been recognized by her role to date. The character is a magical musical governess who cares for five naughty motherless children and teaches them life's most important values. Moreover, she also leads the master of the house to the right match at the end.

Marry Poppins would have "shaped him up pretty quickly," Julie said inferring President Donald Trump. "If only she had had the chance to try!", she joked at the public gathering.

The audience was overjoyed with Julie's mention of Poppins
Poppins is just one of the characters Julie is known for. She has had a long career in Hollywood with 75 years of work and nonetheless has the same vigour to date. She was also the female lead in The Sound of Music which is yet another timeless classic. The musical involves a noble widower played by Christopher Plummer whose children she looks after ultimately wooing him over. The gathering at London's Royal Festival Hall was filled with joy when Julie mentioned Mary Poppins as one of the young women who was also dressed as her. Julie also showered British actor Alex Jennings ("The Crown") with anecdotes from her unique career.

Julie's early life and break as 'Marry Poppins'
Speaking of her childhood, Julie said it was her parents who discovered her talent in singing and her father-in-law taught her classes at the age of seven. Andrews said that she hated to hit the high notes cause they were really high. Later she performed on London's music hall scene until she was 18, before moving to Broadway. Julie got her first break when Walt Disney himself visited her play "Camelot" and asked her to act in Mary Poppins. Julie considers the opening as one of the major reasons why she made it to the Oscars. Remembering the remarks by the book's author, Julie said that she found her to be far too pretty for the role yet she had a nose like Mary Poppins.

Andrews' life at Hollywood
The British actress is now based in Hollywood where she was living with her second husband Blake Edwards with whom she is married for 41 years who passed away in 2010. Blake directed many films of Julie like the musical "Victor/Victoria". During the uproar or of the #metoo movement, Julie said that she was safe in the industry majorly due to Blake's reputation. Andrews has mentioned the details of her in "Home Work, A Memoir of My Hollywood Years" which is the actress's second volume following 2008's best-seller "Home: A Memoir of My Early Years" that was released at London's Royal Festival Hall on Saturday.
