New York's The Strong Museum adds 12 new toy finalists to 'National Toy Hall of Fame'

The Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester announced the latest inductees in upstate New York which also included some toys that are a five-time finalists.

In a new official anuncement, Strong’s National Toy Hall of Fame in Rochester, New York, said that it was ding 12 new toy finalists in its list. Strong National Museum of Play in Rochester anunced latest inductees in upstate New York which also included five-time finalists Clue board game and Wiffle Ball. However, for first time, simple paper airplane was included along with hall’s total 65 toys that included Rubik’s Cube, Cardboard box and blanket, Easy-Bake Oven, and Silly Putty, among many ors, according to a press release issued on its website. 

new selection of toys was based on public selection criteria and was reviewed by internal museum visory committee comprised of curators, educators, and historians. submitted minations qualified se 12 new toys into hall which are: Baby Nancy, bingo, Breyer Horses, Jenga, Lite-Brite, Masters of Universe, My Little Pony, Risk, sidewalk chalk, Sorry!, Tamagotchi, and Yahtzee.

Vice president for collections at Strong Museum, Christopher Bensch said, "se 12 toys represent wide scope of playthings—from simple sidewalk chalk that has its roots in ancient times, to Baby Nancy, which proved a turning point in representation of race in dolls, to more recent, highly invative Tamagotchi.”

He ded, “Wher old or new, or simple of high-tech, all 12 of se toy finalists greatly influenced world of play.”

Criteria for induction included: Icon-status ( toy is widely recognized, respected, and remembered); Longevity ( toy is more than a passing f and has enjoyed popularity over multiple generations); Discovery ( toy fosters learning, creativity, or discovery through play); and Invation ( toy profoundly changed play or toy design).

Each year, Strong’s National Toy Hall of Fame recognizes and hours toys that have inspired creative play and enjoyed popularity over years by several generations. People are asked to minate new and historic versions of classic toys that encourd learning, creativity, and discovery through ir lives.
