Pentagon: 109 troops suffer brain injuries from Iran strike
The number of US service members diagnosed with traumatic brain injuries shot up to over 100, the Pentagon said, as more troops suffer in the aftermath.

number of injuries has been steily increasing since Pentagon began releasing data on injuries about a week after Jan. 8 attacks at al-As Air Base in Iraq. Pentagon officials have warned that number would continue to change.

department said 76 of service members have returned to duty, while 26 are in Germany or United States for treatment, and ar seven are on ir way from Iraq to Germany for evaluation and treatment.
Defense Secretary Mark Esper told Pentagon reporters more than a week ago that department was studying ways to prevent brain injuries on battlefield and to improve diagsis and treatment.

Army Gen. Mark Milley, chairman of Joint Chiefs of Staff, said it’s possible, in some cases, that symptoms of TBI from Iranian missile attack won’t become apparent for a year or two. He said Army is in early sts of diagsis and rapy for troops.
In a statement Monday, Pentagon press secretary Alyssa Farah credited medical professionals with providing care “which has enabled nearly 70 per cent of those diagsed to return to duty. We must continue to dress physical and mental health toger.”
