The Pentagon accused the Russian navy on Friday of "aggressive" actions in the Arabian Sea after one of their ships very nearly collided with a US Navy destroyer.

Russian ship igred collision warning blasts from USS Farragut and came extremely close before turning away, narrowly averting a crash, said US Navy 5th Fleet, which released video foot of incident.

"While Russian ship took action, initial delay in complying with international rules while it was making an aggressive approach increased risk of collision," fleet said in a statement.

It closed dangerously within tens of meters, igring five short blasts sounded by Farragut, international maritime signal for collision danger.
" Russian ship initially refused but ultimately altered course and two ships opened distance from one ar," US statement said.

Farragut was in region as part of strike group attached to USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, deployed late last year to Middle East as tensions with Iran rose.
" US Navy continues to remain vigilant and is trained to act in a professional manner," y said.
