PM Modi: Avoid politicising UN & FATF efforts to combat terrorism

At UN HQ in New York, PM Modi said that terrorists should not be allowed funding and arms, calling for the need to avoid politicisation of UN listings & FATF

Speaking at  Leers' Dialogue on Strategic Responses to Terrorist and Violent Extremist Narratives at UN hequarters in New York on Monday, Prime Minister Narendra Modi said that terrorists should t be allowed funding and arms, calling for need to avoid politicisation of mechanisms like UN listings and FATF. MEA Secretary (West) A Gitesh Sarma dressed a press conference briefing media about PM Modi's remarks at event. 

" Prime Minister called for qualitative upgration in ongoing cooperation and intelligence sharing through bilateral and regional frameworks. Prime Minister said that terrorists should t be allowed to get funds and arms. For this objective to be realised, he said, we need to avoid politicisation of mechanisms like UN listings and FATF. se mechanisms need to be enforced," MEA Secretary (West) A Gitesh Sarma said quoting PM Modi.

MEA Secretary (West) also stated that PM Modi in his remarks suggested need to institutionalise counter-terrorism cooperation at multilateral level, ding that India will work towards enhancing ongoing cooperation in capacity building of friendly countries. Furrmore, PM Modi called for global solidarity and reiness against terrorism in same way world has shown solidarity against challenges like climate change.

"He suggested institutionalising counter-terrorism cooperation at multilateral level. He said India will work towards enhancing ongoing cooperation in capacity building of friendly countries in this area. He said a terrorist attack, anywhere in world should be considered as terrorism, t good or b terrorism," Sarma said.

PM Modi calls for battle against terrorism

On Sunday, PM Modi launched a scathing attack at Pakistan for its support to terrorism. He said that India's decision to nullify Article 370 has caused trouble for those who cant handle ir country. Speaking at 'Howdy, Modi' event at Houston in US in presence of US President Trump, PM called for a "decisive battle" against terrorism. PM Modi also dressed a high-level meeting on Universal Health Cover on Monday, at United Nations in New York.
