Prime Minister Narendra Modi and US President Donald Trump is scheduled to meet for the second time in three days on September 24, for bilateral talks, in New York. The two leaders are expected to talk on a range of issues, between India and US. Amid worldwide trade tensions, Ministry of External Affairs (MEA) spokesperson Raveesh Kumar on Monday night (as per New York time), in a press briefing said that the two leaders are expected to discuss trade. While answering a question about trade, Kumar said: "Look, I will take you back to the meeting between the Prime Minister and President Trump. They had a talk that differences in trade has to be addressed quickly. Discussions are taking place. A this stage it would be premature to say anything. But let us wait."

The MEA spokesperson also responded on US president Donald Trump's yet another offer to mediate between India and Pakistan for Kashmir issue. He stated that India's position on the above issue remains same, i.e. that there can be no third party intervention in Kashmir issue. The MEA also urged the media to wait till Tuesday when PM Modi meets Trump for bilateral talks in New York. Kumar said: "You are aware of our position. We have mentioned this in the past. But my request is, just hold on. Hold on for the meeting tomorrow. It's not very far." Calling himself "an extremely good arbitrator", Trump on Monday in presence of Pakistan PM Imran Khan, brought back the 'mediation' card by saying that he can only intervene on the Kashmir issue if India and Pakistan agree on that.
