Donald Trump speaks to PM Modi, says 'US to ship 100 donated ventilators by next week'

As PM Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with Donald Trump, the White House said that it will ship the first tranche of 100 ventilators to India soon

As Prime Minister Narendra Modi had a telephonic conversation with US President Donald Trump on Tuesday night, White House said that America will be ready to ship first tranche of 100 donated ventilators to India next week. White House in a statement on Wednesday said that President Donald Trump told Prime Minister Modi during a conference call that 100 ventilators will be ready and two leaders also spoke about Indo-China border dispute and G-7 summit. 

White House said that Trump spoke with PM Modi on Tuesday and " two leaders discussed G-7 (summit), COVID-19 response, and regional security issues. president was happy to anunce that United States would be ready to ship first tranche of 100 donated ventilators to India next week,” White House said in a readout of call.

conversation between leaders comes at a strategic time when US president has already expressed his desire to expand membership of G-7 and to include India in group. Moreover, amid India's ongoing tension with China at border along Line of Actual Control (LAC), Trump had earlier claimed that he had spoken to PM and that he is 't in a good mood,' ewhile also offering to mediate between two neighbours. "We have a big conflict going on between India and China, two countries with 1.4 billion people and very powerful militaries. India is t happy and probably China is t happy. I did speak to Prime Minister Modi. He is t in a good mood about what's going on with China," Trump had at  Oval Office.

However, government sources in India soon clarified that re is possibility of involvement of a third party between India and China and that matters are purely bilateral. Moreover, y also said that last call between both  leaders was on April 4, 2020, on subject of Hydroxychloroquine.

PM Modi's statement after call

Soon after phone call, Prime Minister Modi in a series of tweets said that he had a warm and productive conversation with his 'friend' Trump. "We discussed his plans for US Presidency of G-7, COVID-19 pandemic, and many or issues. richness and depth of India-US consultations will remain an important pillar of post-COVID global architecture,” PM Modi tweeted. Prime Minister's Office (PMO) in a statement also said that US president extended an invitation to Prime Minister Modi to attend next G-7 Summit to be held in USA.

Expressing concern regarding ongoing civil disturbances in US, PM Modi conveyed his best wishes for an early resolution of situation. “ two leaders also exchanged views on or topical issues, such as COVID-19 situation in two countries, situation on India-China border, and need for reforms in World Health Organisation,” PMO said.
