Scuffles, fire in LA over death of George Floyd

Police clashed with protesters in Los Angeles on Saturday, as demonstrations and sporadic violence continued across the US following the killing of George Floyd.

Riot police could be seen hitting protesters and firing projectiles towards the crowds in an attempt to disperse them.

The protest was seen being broken up after a car was set alight, prompting demonstrators to move away from the area.

Some leaders appealing for calm in places where crowds smashed storefronts and destroyed police cars in recent nights have been handing out masks and warning demonstrators they were putting themselves at risk.

Minnesota’s governor said Saturday that too many protesters weren’t socially distancing or wearing masks after heeding the call earlier in the week.

But many seemed undeterred.
