Sexual assault cases increase by 25% in military schools: Pentagon
According to a report released by the Pentagon on January 30, Sexual assault in US military academics made an increase of more than 25 per cent in 2019.

Sexual assault cases in United States military acemies saw an increase of more than 25 per cent in 2019. According to a report released by Pentagon on January 30, during school year of 2018-19, re were 149 sexual assaults that were officially reported to authorities at three military acemies where students prepare to become future officers. year previous to that, re were 117 such reported cases.
This year, since only covered sexual assault reported to authorities, refore, Pentagon says that it me difficult to determine if rise in sexual assault cases was due to better reporting or if y did indeed increase than previous years.

Military acemies enrol 13,000 students
Every year, at least 13,000 students at three schools; army's US Military Acemy at West Point, New York, Naval Acemy in Annapolis, Maryland and Air Force Acemy in Coloro Springs, Coloro are asked to fill out anymous questionnaires about sexual assaults, sexual harassment or unwanted sexual contact that remained unreported including ones that were reported. However, Pentagon did t include results from such questionnaires in ir report.

West Point reportedly counted most cases with 57 sexual assaults reported while Naval Acemy h least amount of such cases reported at 33. Meanwhile, re were 40 cases of sexual assault at Air Force Acemy. Or reports came from n-student cases.

According to official release, Executive director of Office of Force Resiliency, Dr Elizabeth Van Winkle said, “ Department recognizes challenge of combatting sexual assault in Military Service Acemies and high cost of t succeeding. Our Acemies produce our future leers. At every turn, we must drive out misconduct in place of good order and discipline.”
However, as per international reports, retired Colonel Don Christensen, former Air Force prosecutor and he of organisation Protect Our Defenders said that report by Pentagon is a reflection of 'what we alrey kw'. He furr ded that Pentagon has repeatedly failed to dress crisis of sexual assault gripping ranks and as a result, ' problem continues to grow'. Christensen also called out military forces' lack of 'military justice reform' and t putting cases of sexual assault 'in hands of professionals'.
