Six coronavirus deaths in US, 91 confirmed cases: Pence

The number of deaths in the US from the deadly coronavirus rose to six on Monday while the total number of confirmed cases in the country crossed 90, Vice President Mike Pence has said, as the novel virus continues to spread around the world despite travel restrictions.

All six deaths in US are from Washington state with 43 domestic cases and 48 cases of individuals who returned to US, officials said on Monday.

US President Donald Trump along with Pence reviewed situation at White House on Monday with top health officials and those leers from pharma corporate sector who are working on eir vaccine or rapeutics for COVID-19.

"Despite today's s news, let's be clear, risk to American people of coronavirus remains low according to all of experts that we are working with across government," Pence told reporters at White House.

"As president has said, we are rey for anything, but this is an all hands on deck effort," he said.

In his meeting with leers of Pharma industry, Trump said that since start of outbreak his ministration has taken most aggressive action to protect service sense, including closing borders very early.

"I ordered sweeping travel restrictions, increased travel visory levels, establish screening measures and imposed historic quarantines. We have quarantines all over country, a lot of m," he said.

Pence told reporters at White House that many companies are alrey beginning to work on, but just as importantly, development of rapeutics and it is remarkable to think that re may well be a vaccine going to clinical trials within next six weeks.

On March 1, President Trump anunced restrictions on travel from Iran and vised fellow citizens t to travel to certain areas of South Korea and Italy.

United States has alrey restricted travel on people who have visited China and Iran.

On Monday, President Trump said he is still considering ditional travel restrictions for countries with rampant coronavirus outbreaks, CNN reported.
