Texas Senate passes bill limiting transgender students' involvement in sports

Texas Senate passed a bill that would not allow transgender student-athletes from playing on school sports teams that identify participants with ir birth gender. school athletes would be able to compete with teams that match ir birth gender, reported  Texas Tribune. After bill was passed in  Texas Senate, bill would be sent to Governor Greg Abbott's desk if Texas House includes amendment ded by Senate.

bill that has been authored by State Representative Valoree Swanson allows athletes to play in team that matches ir biological gender listed on official issued birth certificate, reported  Texas Tribune. Furrmore, a modified birth certificate would be valid provided it has been changed due to clerical error. As per House Bill 25, a modified birth certificate would not be accepted unless re was a clerical error on original birth certificate.

Texas Senate sends bill back to House

As per Texas Tribune report, House h me an amendment in bill, however, it was removed in Texas Senate. legislation defined 'biological sex' as " physical condition of being male or female as determined by sex organs, chromosomes, and endogenous profile of individual at birth." Anor House amendment in legislation mentioned that bill follows state and federal laws regarding 'confidentiality of student medical information'. If  Texas House includes amendment ded by Senate, bill would he to Governor Greg Abbott's desk.

During House floor debate on HB 25, Democrats h informed that legislators must think about mental pressure that bill would have on transgender children since many of m are alrey suffering 'bullying'.
