The Trump administration is signaling that it could increase fuel economy standards, possibly compromising on its push to freeze them at 2020 levels.

Trump ministration is signaling that it could increase fuel ecomy standards, possibly compromising on its push to freeze m at 2020 levels.

In one of ministration’s hardest-fought battles to roll back Obama-era environmental regulations, two federal ncies submitted a final rule on gas mile and greenhouse gas emissions on Tuesday.

But y would t give details until rule is reviewed and formally published by Office of Manment and Budget.

Still, National Highway Traffic Safety ministration says in a statement that it believes rule, done jointly with Environmental Protection ncy, will improve gas mile and reduce emissions from U.S. fleet of new vehicles.

statement also said rule would make new vehicles more affordable for Americans, reby putting more new vehicles on ro that are safer than ones y replaced.

“When finalized, this rule will be a win for all Americans,” statement said.
