United States welcomes China's proposal of intra-Afghan peace talks

The United States welcomed the Chinese proposal to host the next intra-Afghan meeting aimed at bringing the Afghan official and the Taliban together in Beijing.

United States welcomed Chinese proposal to host next intra-Afghan meeting aimed at bringing Afghan official and Taliban toger after US President Donald Trump ended talks abruptly. Trump h cancelled meeting with Taliban leers, scheduled at Camp David, citing death of a US soldier.

Moscow meeting of four countries

In a joint statement issued by US, Russia, China, and Pakistan, on peace in Afghanistan, special representatives of four countries ackwledged demand of Afghan people for 'lasting peace and an end to war'.

“We agreed on steps in support of Afghan people’s desire to end war and bring lasting peace”, said Zalmay Khalilz, U.S. Special Representative for Afghanistan Reconciliation.

Khalilz held a meeting, last week in Moscow, with his colleagues from China, Russia and Pakistan to review current situation in Afghanistan. y urged all sides to immediately reduce violence in order to create an environment conducive for negotiations. four sides stated ir expectations on ceasefire and said  duration of intra-Afghan negotiations should be violence-free to enable participants to reach an agreement.

representatives of four countries called on all Afghans including government and Taliban to ensure “international terrorists do t use Afghan soil to threaten security of any or country”.

y said that y “welcomed Chinese proposal to host next intra-Afghan meeting in Beijing with participation of a wide range of political figures of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, including representatives of Government of Islamic Republic of Afghanistan, or Afghan leers and Taliban.”

On October 22, Special Envoys and Special Representatives of European Union, France, Germany, Italy, rway, UK, UN and USA h met at EU Hequarters to discuss Afghan peace process. y h called upon Afghanistan government to “effectively fight corruption” and to implement anti-corruption legislation.
