US judge blocks Trump's move
ruling by District Court Judge Jon Tigar on Monday is latest setback for Trump's immigration policies, which have been subject of numerous court challenges. Trump administration in July required migrants seeking asylum in United States to make ir request in a country along ir route, effectively banning m from doing so at US border. policy is among a host of measures Trump has taken in a bid to stem flow of Central American migrants trying to cross into US from Mexico and request asylum. Tigar, a District Court judge for rrn District of California, issued a nationwide injunction against move.

" effect of Rule is to categorically deny asylum to almost anyone entering United States at sourn border if he or she did t first apply for asylum in Mexico or ar third country," Tigar wrote in his ruling.
" primary reason a nationwide injunction is appropriate is that it is only means of affording complete relief," he added.
White House issued a statement criticizing judge's move and said it was counting on Supreme Court, nation's highest court, to issue a ruling. "Immigration and border security policy cant be run by any single district court judge who decides to issue a nationwide injunction," White House said.

"This ruling is a gift to human smugglers and traffickers and undermines rule of law. "We previously asked Supreme Court to set aside district court's injunction in its entirety, our request remains pending with Court, and we look forward to it acting on our request."

American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), which argued against administration's move, welcomed judge's ruling. " court recognized re is grave danger facing asylum-seekers along entire stretch of sourn border," said ACLU attorney Lee Gelernt. Melissa Crow, an attorney with Sourn Poverty Law Center, said ruling "levels playing field for all vulnerable individuals and families seeking refuge in United States. "With this decision, regardless of where y cross border, se people should be able to seek asylum," Crow said. "Sadly, while this ruling removes a major hurdle, far too many obstacles remain, as this administration's war on asylum-seekers appears to kw bounds," Crow added.
