As the race for the White House gets more intense, US President Joe Biden's approval rating plunged to a deplorable 33% according to the recent polls released by the Pew Research Center on Thursday. The matter became cornering because this is Biden's lowest rating recorded by the research centre since the 81-year-old American commander-in-chief took the office. The figures also indicated a 2-point drop from the last approval survey produced by the same organisation in June this year. While the president's approval rating among the registered Republicans and those who lean Republican stayed consistent at 7%, his support among the Democratic electorate tumbled significantly.
According to the pollster body, Biden's approval rating among Democrats has fallen 12 points since October last year and is “relatively low” among major demographic groups. The body noted that only about half of black Americans are happy with Biden's job in the Oval Office. However, the American president did even worse among the Hispanics and Asians garnering only 33% and 37% votes respectively. “Large majorities of Americans express little or no confidence in Biden’s ability to handle a number of issues, including economic and immigration policy,” the report reads. “Confidence in Biden is particularly low in his ability to bring the country closer together.” the body further stated.
Where does Biden stand on key issues?
After publishing the data, the pollster body informed that they recorded responses from 5,203 adults between November 27 and December 3. Among them, only 24% noted that they were confident in Biden's ability to “unite the country”. Meanwhile, only 33% of the demography agreed with his economic policies and a mere 32% lauded his stance on the immigration issue. Biden's deplorable poll figures came a day after David Axelrod, former President Barack Obama’s top political adviser, warned that Biden’s miserable approval rating – as measured in a recent Wall Street Journal poll – is “very, very dark” news for his campaign at the 2024 US Presidential elections. On Saturday the American news outlet released a survey in which it was found that only 37% of the voters are happy with Biden's job in the Oval Office. The latest figures are worrisome for democrats since Biden's top rival, Former US President Donald Trump is leading among Republican presidential hopefuls and even Biden in various polls.
