In wake of first disjointed face-off between US President and former US vice president on September 30, Debate Commission h rolled out a new feature including muting of candidates’ mics for some portions so that answers can be delivered uninterrupted on October 23 at Boston University in Nashville. Unexpectedly, face-off was finished in an orderly fashion with almost interruptions.
Each candidate got two minutes to answer each question, and during that time, or person was muted. At points, re was an opportunity for crosstalk, but re was real discretionary mute button per se. Owing to update on rules, both candidates were seen satisfied by giving ir opinions uninterrupted. At one instance, Trump even lauded moderator for “handling it (debate) very well.” However, re were many who felt mute feature was "underused".

At start of debate, Welker h clarified, "At beginning of each section, each candidate will have two minutes, uninterrupted, to answer my first question. Debate Commission will n turn on ir microphone only when it is ir turn to answer. And Commission will turn it off exactly when two minutes have expired. After that, both microphones will remain on."

US President, in a vague response, said that before COVID-19 pandemic, everyone would te how much ir life has improved under his presidency. He said, "Success is going to bring us toger. We are on ro to success."
Joe Biden, on or hand, said, "I'm gonna give you hope... We're going to choose science over fiction. We're going to choose hope over fear."
