White House Press Secretary Kayleigh McEnany says the U.S. relationship with China right now is one "of disappointment and frustration" amid the global coronavirus pandemic.
McEnany made the comments at the White House briefing Wednesday when asked how President Donald Trump views the relationship.

McEnany said Trump is "frustrated" by some of China's decisions over the handling of data and information that "put American lives at risk."
She said Trump would have more "as to how we move forward" next week.

McEnany also defended comments she made as a Trump campaign spokesperson to Fox Business, prior to taking on her White House role.
During an interview on the network, she said Trump would "never allow" coronavirus to come into the United States.

Asked if she would like to take those comments back, McEnany turned the tables on the media and asked a number of news publications if they would also like to take back reports that underestimated the wrath of COVID-19.
"I guess I would turn the question back on the media and ask similar questions. Does Vox want to take back that they proclaim that the coronavirus would not be a deadly pandemic? Does The Washington Post want to take back that they told Americans to get a grip, the flu is bigger than the coronavirus?" McEnany asked.

"I'll leave you with those questions. Maybe you'll have some answers in a few days," she said, just before walking out of the room.
