Verdict on murder trail of Slovak journalist delayed

Judges in Slovakia on Tuesday delayed their verdict in one of the country's most notorious crimes - the killing of a well-known investigative journalist and his fiancee in 2018.

Judges in Slovakia on Tuesday delayed ir verdict in one of country's most torious crimes - killing of a well-kwn investigative journalist and his fiancee in 2018.

Final decisions had been expected on Wednesday, but panel of judges hearing case anunced y did t have eugh time to prepare verdicts and chose to delay m until September 3.

three defendants, one of m a businessman accused of masterminding killings, have all pleaded t guilty to murdering Slovak journalist Jan Kuciak, 27, and fiancee Martina Kusnirova, also 27.

Prosecutors have alleged that Marian Kocner threatened journalist following publication of a story about his business dealings.

or two defendants on trial, Alena Zsuzsova and Tomas Szabó, are accused of being accomplices who helped him organize fatal shooting of couple in February 2018.

Pezik court already has convicted a fourth defendant, Miroslav Marcek, who pleaded guilty in January to shooting Kuciak and Kusnirova.

Prosecutors have alleged Kocner paid Marcek for killings.
