RGV’s controversial Telugu film ‘Lakshmi’s NTR’, based on the story of former AP Chief Minister NT Rama Rao and wife Lakshmi Parvati, was stalled earlier by the Election Commission due to the model code of conduct in place for the ongoing Lok Sabha elections. The filmmaker recently announced that the movie would now release in Andhra Pradesh on May 1.
RGV tweeted that he will be arriving in Vijayawada to speak to the media to promote the film on Sunday. Before he boarded his flight, RGV claimed hotels were being ‘warned’ to not accommodate the team and that two of them had cancelled their accomodation after agreeing initially.

Varma wrote he is ‘ready to be front stabbed’ to tell the ‘back stabbing truth of #LakshmisNTR' and was reaching Vijayawada by 11.30 am for the press conference scheduled for 4 pm.
However, at the Gannavaram airport, RGV and his aides were seen arguing with police officials in the videos that have surfaced.

Later, RGV himself tweeted a video from police custody and wrote that he was detained for the ‘only crime of trying to tell truth.’ (sic) In the video, he said that the police told him about the movie creating a 'law and order' situation as it projects CM Chandrababu Naidu in 'bad light.'

In his next tweet, the ‘Satya’ director informed his followers that the press meet stands cancelled since the police stopped him and his associates. He added that the police barred his entry into Vijayawada and that they were ‘forcibly sending’ him back to Hyderabad. He asked CM Chandrababu Naidu, 'where is democracy?'
