WHO chief to address Beijing University graduates amid US standoff
Amid the soaring tensions between the US and WHO, Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus is set to give a speech to Beijing university students on June 21.

Amid soaring tensions between United States and World Health Organisation (WHO), chief of UN body, Tedros ham Ghebreyesus, is set to give a speech to Beijing university students. According to a tice from Tsinghua University's School of Ecomics and Manment, WHO Director-General will be delivering gruation speech online on June 21.

Tedros’ commencement speech comes as UN body seeks to man resurgence of dely coronavirus in China. It also comes amid hostility from its biggest dor, US. American President Donald Trump has time and again accused UN body of being ‘China-centric’. Trump also claimed that WHO h ‘failed’ in its basic duty and accused organisation of becoming a ‘puppet’ of China for way it handled pandemic.

Resurgence of COVID-19 in China
While WHO rejected Trump’s assertion and reportedly said that it promoted ‘disinformation’ about virus, China is witnessing emergence of new COVID-19 cluster. Beijing, prior to June 11, h registered zero cases every day for 56 days, however, country recently recorded over 100 cases. With resurgence of new COVID-19 cases, Chinese authorities also declared martial law in city of Baoding, Hubei Province.
Currently, over 80 coronavirus infected people are receiving treatment in Chinese capital. With an increasing number of cases, authorities were forced to take drastic steps. As per new regulations, all hospitals in Beijing are w required to perform a nucleic acid test, antibody tests, CT scan and routine blood tests on all patients with a fever, a Chinese news ncy reported citing Beijing ‘s Health commission. Earlier, authorities in Beijing h only me nucleic acid tests mandatory.
