WHO mission to China says 'no indication' of COVID virus in Wuhan before December 2019

World Health Organisation (WHO) mission visiting China to investigate origins of vel coronavirus has said on February 9 in a press briefing that animal source of virus is “t yet identified” and confirmed that re is “ indication” of COVID-19 in Wuhan before December 2019, when it was first reported. Earlier, Peter Daszak, a New York-based zoologist assisting WHO-sponsored mission, h said that team h derived ‘important clues’ about Wuhan seafood market’s role in pandemic.
Talking to Bloomberg News from central city of Wuhan through zoom call, Daszak said that 14-member group worked in collaboration with Chinese experts and visited key spots in region where vel coronavirus first mushroomed in December 2019 before its outbreak. He said team of international experts have visited research centres to uncover “some real clues about what happened”.

Daszak h reportedly said that investigation heralds a turning point in COVID-19 pandemic mitigation. On February 5, he said, “It's beginning of hopefully a really deep understanding of what happened so we can stop next one” before ding “that’s what this is all about -- trying to understand why se things emerge so we don't continually have global ecomic crashes and horrific mortality while we wait for vaccines. It's just t a tenable future.” Meanwhile, COVID-19 global infections have surpassed 106.5 million with over 2.3 million deaths, according to Johns Hopkins University tally.

‘Whole gamut of key lines of investigation’
New York-based zoologist assisting WHO-sponsored mission also ted that experts have to “cover whole gamut of key lines of investigation”. Daszak also informed that “to be fair” Chinese scientists who are currently hosting 14-member team are also doing same for past several months. About Chinese hosts, he reportedly said, “y've been working behind scenes, digging up information, looking at it and getting it rey.” Daszak is one of 10 independent experts assisting WHO mission along with five staff members and UN's Food and Agriculture Organization and Paris-based World Organization for Animal Health have two each.
