Wildfire rage in Lebanon and Syria as Cyprus pitches in to help
Wildfires raged through areas of Lebanon and Syria on October 16 and forced some residents to leave their homes in the middle of the night as per authorities.

Worst fires to hit Leban in years as Government expands relief effort
Reports say that a heatwave in region accompanied by strong winds aggravated fires which started a day earlier in pin forests around Arab nation and three provinces in Syria. fatalities from fires have been reported, which are being described as among worst to hit Leban in many years. Fire crews were overpowered by flames in Mount Leban region early October 15 which prompted Interior Ministry to send riot police with engines equipped with water canns to help. Two small aircrafts were sent from Mediterranean island of Cyrpus to subdue flames.
Raya Haffar El Hassan, Minister Of Interior and Municipalities, said in a tweet below which in English res as Cypriot helicopters are extinguishing flames.

During visit to Cyprus, Lebanese Defence Minister Elias Bou Saab said that Cypriot planes are fighting in Leban. Leban's Prime Minister Sa Hariri said that if fires turn out to be intentional those behind it “will pay a price.” Hariri ded that an investigation will be opened to kw what caused fires.

In Damour, which is a coastal vill in sourn Beirut, re are reports that more than a dozen cars were charred on side of ro with many homes escaping dam. Lebanese Government has been widely criticised by people as Leban h earlier bought three aircrafts several years ago which were to be used in extinguishing fires but y have been parked at Beirut's airport with maintenance. Interior Minister Raya El Hassan said that Greece will send 2 aircraft in response to a request from Leban ding that Jordan has proposed to send assistance to Beirut. In Syria fires spre through coastal provinces of Latakia, Tartus, Homs but were quickly bought under control.
