At WMCC meeting with China, India stresses on both sides respecting LAC amid faceoff
At the meeting of the Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs, India stressed that both sides must respect the LAC.

At 15th meeting of Working Mechanism for Consultation and Coordination on India-China Border Affairs (WMCC) on Wednesday, India stressed that both sides must strictly respect LAC. This was in context of Indian side raising concerns about recent developments in Eastern Lakh, including violent faceoff in Galwan Valley area that h resulted in casualties. Recalling previous week's conversation between External Affairs Minister S Jaishankar and his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi, both sides reaffirmed that understanding on disengment and de-escalation that was reached by senior Commanders on June 6 should be implemented.

India-China violent faceoff
20 Indian Army soldiers including a Commanding Officer were martyred when a violent faceoff took place on June 15 when de-escalation process was underway in Galwan Valley. As per Editor-in-Chief of Chinese newspaper Global Times, Chinese side also suffered casualties during physical clash. On June 18, Indian Army revealed that a total of 76 personnel h been injured out of which 18 mitted to Leh hospital can resume duty in about 15 days. As per Army, remaining 58 soldiers should be back on duty within a week's time.
During all-party meeting on June 19, PM Modi stressed that neir anyone h intruded into Indian land r taken over any post of country. After this statement came in for criticism from opposition leers, PMO clarified that his observations pertained to situation as a consequence of bravery of Indian Armed Forces. It stated that soldiers of 16 Bihar Regiment h foiled Chinese attempt to erect structures on Indian side of LAC. PMO me it clear that Union government would t allow any unilateral change of LAC.
