The day was chosen by the World Health Organisation (WHO) to raise awareness of mental health issues around the world and mobilize efforts in support of mental health. World Federation for Mental Health makes annual efforts to organise the day and 2019's theme has been chosen to be suicide prevention. Also known as 'emotional health' or 'emotional well-being', mental health means more than not having a mental health disorder - being mentally healthy also means being able to cope with life, its challenges and making the most of your potential, cites Mental Health foundation.
