COVID-19: WHO scientist highlights the 'other challenge' after vaccine is discovered

'We need to ensure that the more powerful nations do not corner the limited doses of the COVID-19 vaccine', said Dr Soumya Swaminathan, chief scientist of WHO

While entire world has been grappling with COVID-19, which as of Wednesday, has claimed lives of almost 810,492 people globally, world shall soon be facing 'ar challenge' said Chief Scientist of WHO Dr. Soumya Swaminathan.

By 2021, some good news is awaited, said Dr. Soumya Swaminathan, Chief Scientist of WHO when asked about developments over vaccine at valedictory ceremony of 15th Conference on Public Policy and Manment, which was hosted by Centre for Public Policy, Indian Institute of Manment Banglore(IIMB).

"However, or challenge that world might face, after vaccine would come into existence, is to stop more powerful nations from occupying all doses," ded Swaminathan. 

However, India is in a much better position in comparison to or countries, since a lot of firms are trying to discover vaccine, eir by collaborating with firms from or nations or by mselves, ded Swaminathan.

" mortality rate in South Asia and Africa has t increased in second wave of pandemic," ded Swaminathan. 

While pandemic has aggravated alrey existing polarities, but at same time, has also proved to be an opportunity to learn, which would improve flexibility and make Public Health Systems even more stronger, ded Swaminathan. 

At present, all efforts must be concentrated at collaborations across planet, while dealing with diagsis of virus, curing virus, any issues regarding behavioural and mental health of masses and development of vaccine, ded Swaminathan.
