Xinhua News Agency condemns violent behaviour of Hong Kong protesters
China’s Xinhua News Agency has strongly criticised the behaviour of the Hong Kong protesters getting violent on the streets terming it as ‘savage behaviour’

The Xinhua News Agency on November 2 has strongly criticised the behaviour of the Hong Kong protesters getting violent on the streets. They termed it as "savage behaviour" after the dissenters vandalised its Asia-Pacific Regional Bureau office building while protesting against the government for ‘one country, one system’. Xinhua News Agency is a Chinese state-run agency that faced the anger of the protesters.
Violent protests in Hong Kong
According to the reports, the riots broke on Saturday afternoon, several protesters wrote the inappropriate language on the walls of the building, destroyed its security facilities, also damaging the entrance gate and the windows of the building. Many of the demonstrators dropped firebombs and paint bombs in the lobby. Xinhua termed them as the ‘barbaric thugs’ roaming around the streets and causing distress.

Xinhua News Agency condemns the Hong Kong protesters
One of the spokespeople of Xinhua in a Facebook post said that, “The practice of the black rioters once again shows that ‘stopping the violence and restoring order’ is Hong Kong’s most important and urgent task at present.” The spokesperson further added the stand of the news agency calling it a news agency and international wire service which has global influence. He said that Xinhua has always tried to put truthful, comprehensive and authoritative news to its audience. He said that the black-clad protesters with their increasing acts of violence have made it a certain time and again, that Hong Kong needs to cease all the violence and chaos and bring restore peace and order.

The constant clashes between protesters and police
According to the reports of the international media, there have been several incidents of clashes between the police and the protesters. There were approximately 200 protesters who were arrested during the night for committing crimes ranging from criminal damage, possessing dangerous weapons and being masked, which is considered illegal under the new colonial-era emergency law. In an attempt to stop the protesters from executing the acts of violence, Police used tear gas, rubber bullets and water cannons, during the Saturday protest which continued until Sunday morning.

The Hong Kong protesters are against the idea of ‘one country, one system’ which will restrict them from enjoying extensive freedom, not permitted in mainland China. Hong Kong will also lose its freedom to have an independent judiciary and the right to protest. The Chinese Foreign Ministry has warned other nations from interfering, considering it a matter of ‘internal affairs’. The Chinese government has accused other nations of escalating the issue.
